Minimum Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age by May 12, 2026

Must possess a high school diploma or GED by May 12, 2026

Must have a valid unrestricted drivers license for at least 2 years as of May 12, 2026

Must complete the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) as offered by Tucson Fire by March 20, 2026 - March 22, 2026 OR obtain a current CPAT card earned between October 1, 2025 - March 22, 2026
Important Dates

CPAT Orientation will commence on January 10, 2026 and January 31, 2026

CPAT practices by invite only will occur between February 13, 2026 - March 15, 2026

CPAT final will occur between March 20, 2026 - March 22, 2026

Intern Orientation by invite only will be sent to all who passed CPAT by March 23, 2026

Intern Orientation dates will occur on April 11, 2026 - April 12, 2026 and April 18, 2026 - April 19, 2026

Hiring interviews by invite only will be in May 2026

Final offers will be sent in June 2026

The Academy will begin in July 2026​
2 Step Application Process
Step 1: Apply with City of Tucson by:
January 31, 2026 - 5:00 pm MT (Mandatory)
Step 2: Complete Testing with
Public Safety Answers by:
February 4, 2026 - 8:00 pm MT (Mandatory)
Use of AI tools for any portion of the testing process is strictly prohibited. Detection methods will be used and if AI use is identified, you may be disqualified.
