Minimum Qualifications

18 years of age at time of hire

High School diploma or GED equivalent by time of hire

Valid driver's license

National Registry EMT or Kansas EMT or Paramedic certification OR ability to obtain via reciprocity by time of hire

Current CPAT certificate or SFD physical ability test​
* Estimated 1st Academy start date: June 1, 2026
2 Step Application Process
Step 1: Apply with City of Salina by:
March 26, 2026 - 11:59 pm CT
Step 2: Complete Testing and Video Interview with Public Safety Answers by:
March 30, 2026 - 11:59 pm CT
First 50 applicants paid for by the City of Salina.
$50 testing fee thereafter.
