Minimum Qualifications
Fire Cadet

Must possess, or able to obtain by hire date, a valid Texas "C" Driver License

A high school diploma or GED certification is required

At least 18 years of age

Must enroll in the first available class and make a continuous, uninterrupted effort to pass and become a DSHS-certified EMT and TCFP Firefighter.
Firefighter I EMT/
Firefighter II Paramedic

Must possess, or able to obtain by hire date, a valid Texas "C" Driver License

Certified Firefighter with the Texas Commission on Fire Protection or IFSAC or Proboard certified

Certified Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) OR Paramedic, National Registry certified, or will obtain by time of hire
All applicants must complete the mandatory Physical Agility Test (PAT) that will be administered by the Odessa Fire Rescue on November 13, 2026.
Failure to complete the PAT will result in disqualification.
Candidates who successfully pass the PAT will move on to in person interviews.
