Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue is a progressive, community-focused department committed to protecting and serving at the highest level.  We're seeking motivated individuals who believe in our mission, share our values, and take pride in serving the greater Fort Lauderdale community. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

  • Current, valid Firefighter Certificate of Compliance, Certificate of Statutory Compliance, or Certificate of Training issued by the State of Florida

  • Florida Paramedic License and ACLS card or Nationally registered Paramedic transferable to Florida

  • American Heart Association BLS - CPR & AED CARD or BLS for Healthcare Provider card by American Red Cross (CPR &AED)

  • American Heart Association (ACLS) card

  • EVOC (16-hour) Certificate issued by a certified Florida agency

  • Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) by The National Testing Network

2 Step Application Process

Step 1: Apply with

Step 2: Complete Testing and Video Interview with Public Safety Answers by:
July 24, 2026 - 5:00 pm ET
(Mandatory)

Test fee of $50 required. Financial hardship requests can be sent to: khaynes@fortlauderdale.gov
