Minimum Qualifications

  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from a standard high school or its equivalent.

  • Holds a valid State of Florida Firefighter Certificate (must be certified at the time of application submission).

  • Possess a valid State of Florida Paramedic Certification.

  • Valid State of Florida Class "E" Driver’s License at the time of application

  • Possess all valid certifications necessary to perform as a Paramedic within the City of Oakland Park which includes certification or successful completion of:

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Pediatric Education for Prehospital Providers (PEPP)

  • Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC)

  • Candidate Physical Ability Test card/certification (issued within 12 months of the date of job posting)

  • The City will waive physical ability test certification from candidates currently employed as a State of Florida Firefighter and State of Florida Paramedic.

  • The City will consider the acceptance of a physical ability test certification from any State of Florida certified firefighter training center within one year of the date of application for employment known as:

  • Candidate Physical Ability Test – CPAT or Physical Ability Test – PAT.

  • The New Higher Assessment (NHA) – Coral Springs Training Center​

  • PREFERRED

  • Broward County Residents

  • Associates Degree or Higher

2 Step Application Process

Step 1: Apply with City of Oakland Park by:
August 14, 2026 - 5:00 pm ET.

 

Step 2: Complete Testing and Video Interview with Public Safety Answers by:
August 14, 2026 - 5:00 pm ET.
